SHIRE COLTS ‘B’           5

FRY CLUB COLTS           1

We travelled to Sea Mills Park with a squad of 12 for the second successive week due to the injury to Brad Monelle and non availability to Jordan Knight. However, we still had a strong team to field and started the game positively with our normal 4-4-2 formation. Some good runs down both flanks by Reece Tucker and Kyle Curtis led to half chances for both Matt Baber and Oli Boon which unfortunately weren’t converted. Against the run of play however, we found ourselves 2 – 0 down due to some unfortunate defending.

A positive talk at half time led to further chances at the start of the second half and Oli Boon scored to bring back to 2 – 1. We continued to dominate and further chances led to some good goalkeeping by the Shire keeper, including a great penalty save from Matt Baber. Despite this pressure, Shire scored a further 3 late second half goals, including a very lucky rebound from a defenders clearance to win the 3 points.

Overall, we suffered a desperately unlucky loss in a game we dominated from start to finish. Despite the scoreline, there were a lot of positives to come out of the game with many chances and lots of possession. Nevertheless, we must ensure chances are converted in order to win games.

For Man of the Match this week, there were good performances all over the park, including our 2 central defenders James & James and Craig Francis in goal. However, Matt Baber was given the award with his best forward display this season.
